King is an S-Class hero ranked 5 in the Hero Association and is known as the “Strongest Man on Earth.”
His fearsome reputation stems from a series of misunderstandings where Saitama defeated powerful monsters, but King was mistakenly credited for their defeat.
King’s stoic demeanor and his loud heartbeat, mistaken as the “King Engine”, intimidate enemies into retreating, reinforcing his mythic status.
In reality, King is an ordinary man who loves video games and often avoids battles, relying on his reputation to stay out of trouble.
During the Lord Boros Arc in Volume 6 Chapter 32, King didn’t do anything even after asked by Superalloy Darkshine about the huge spaceship threat.
He is deeply aware of his undeserved fame and fears being exposed as a fraud.
Despite this, his quick thinking and ability to manipulate perceptions make him an unexpected but valuable asset in the world of heroes.
Appearance
- Hair: King has neatly combed back, shoulder-length blond hair. The style is clean and emphasizes a slick and composed demeanor, with no stray strands.
- Face: He has a stern and chiseled face, with sharp cheekbones and a strong jawline. His expression is serious and intimidating, highlighted by pronounced furrows or wrinkles on the forehead, which add to his intense demeanor. The eyes are sharp and focused, with an unrelenting gaze that exudes confidence and authority.
- Scars: King has three distinctive scars across his left eye. In Volume 8 Chapter 39, he revealed the scars were inflicted by the monster Octoclaw Man when he was younger. This detail is significant because it contributes to his intimidating appearance and fuels the misconception that he’s a battle-hardened hero.
- Serious Expression: King is often seen with an extremely serious facial expression. He rarely smiles and generally maintains a stoic demeanor. This serious expression further enhances his intimidating aura and reinforces his image as a powerful hero.
- Physique: He has a well-built, muscular physique with broad shoulders and a lean, strong frame. His usual stance, hands casually in his pockets, conveys a relaxed yet commanding presence.
- Attire: King is dressed in a sleek, casual outfit. He sometimes wears a black, long-sleeved turtleneck sweater that fits snugly, emphasizing their upper body musculature. Complementing this is his light blue jeans. Sometimes, he wears an untucked button-down shirt that shows his undershirt.

Personality
- Cowardly and Anxious: King is repeatedly emphasized as coward and anxious. He is terrified of monsters and avoids confrontation whenever possible. The “King Engine,” the loud heartbeat that others perceive as a sign of his power, is actually a physical manifestation of his fear.
- Honest: Despite his fear, King is inherently honest and struggles with the guilt of his unearned reputation. He confesses his weakness to Saitama and expresses a desire to become genuinely strong.
- Gamer: King is an avid video game enthusiast. He finds solace and escape in the virtual world, which contrasts sharply with the dangerous reality he faces as a perceived hero. His gaming skills are exceptional, often surpassing even Saitama’s abilities.
- Unintentionally Intimidating: King’s serious expression, scars, and reputation contribute to his unintentionally intimidating presence. He inspires fear and awe in those around him, even though he actively avoids confrontation.
- Caring and Compassionate: King shows a caring side, especially toward Saitama. He worries about his well-being, offers advice, and invites him to play video games. He also shows concern for Tareo when other heroes are about to execute Garou in front of the kid.
- Clever and Strategic: King is adept at bluffing and using his reputation to trick opponents. His ability to intimidate others, even without combat skills, allows him to outsmart adversaries and sometimes make them hesitate or surrender. This talent has saved him in dangerous situations, such as when he scared off Black Sperm and Homeless Emperor.

Abilities, Power, and Skills
- Intimidating Presence: King exudes an aura of seriousness and intimidation. His overall gestures, serious demeanor, the scars on his face, and reputation as the strongest man on earth contribute to his imposing aura, which fools people and enemies into thinking he is the real deal.
- Acting: King is a great actor. Even before Saitama met him, he used his reputation and acting skills to intimidate weak monsters and create an image of a badass figure. He also manages to pull this off in front of the S-Class Heroes and the cadres during the Monster Association Arc.
- King Engine: The king’s heartbeat is so loud that people around him mistakenly interpret it as his “Battle Mode.” To monsters, this is the sound of terror that signifies certain death. To humans, it’s hope that they will win. In reality, King is actually extremely nervous that his heartbeat accelerates due to intense fear.
- King Engine Maximum Output: King unleashes his loudest heartbeat, but this time, his King Engine is intentional because he’s really pissed. He used this to stop the heroes from beating and killing Garou in front of the kid, Tareo.
- Super Sparking King Mode: King powers up before unleashing his attack called Ultimate Purgatory Hellfire Burst Wave Motion Cannon. However, this is only within Child Emperor’s imagination.
- Video Game Prodigy: The one thing that King can be surely good at is playing video games. He constantly wins against Saitama, even when playing with handicaps and having his character low on HP. He also beat the whole Blizzard Group during a video game match.
- Supreme Luck: King has Lady Luck always on his side. Despite being a normal human who could easily be destroyed by wolf-level monsters, King’s luck is always there to protect him when he’s in a bind. Saitama or another powerful character always appears to save him. Additionally, the threats themselves could misinterpret his actions, leading to their surrender.
Attacks Used [Sort of…]
King merely has no power. His attacks mentioned here are the fruit of other people’s wild imaginations about him.
- Ultimate Purgatory Hellfire Burst Wave Motion Cannon: King doesn’t possess this attack, but it’s a fruit of Child Emperor’s imagination. According to him, this is King’s secret move, in which he fires a powerful energy beam to finish off his enemies after going into Super Sparking King Mode. When King attempts to use this “attack,” it coincides with Garou defeating the monsters, further solidifying his false reputation.
Rumors of King’s Feats
- Lured and Defeated a Giant Bird: A bunch of civilians recognize the apartment that the giant bird attacked to be King’s residence. They infer that King lured the giant monster to defeat it.
- Defeated Several Dragon-Level Monsters: In the eyes of the S-Class heroes, King used his Ultimate Purgatory Hellfire Burst Wave Motion Cannon to defeat several Cadres and save them from the pinch they were in.
- Defeated Elder Centipede: Black Sperm was cautious about attacking or making a sudden move before King, as he believed King fought and defeated Elder Centipede with a single attack.
- Fought Monsters All Night: Upon returning home, two Hero Association agents found him and brought him to their meeting, where the S-Class heroes are quarreling. King appeared, and the two agents explained he had fought the monsters all night. Before he could tell them the truth, the agents further revealed that the stains on the front of his shirt were monster blood. In reality, he passed out after a “hotpot boodle fight” in Saitama’s apartment.
- Hurling a Bomb into a Huge Black Hole: After King’s honest confession about his weakness, Charanko revealed that he believed the story of King flying into the sky holding a bomb that could have destroyed the whole solar system, but he hurled it into a giant black hole.
- Time Traveling to Save Humanity: Charanko also revealed the rumor that King went back in time to destroy the swarms of meteors out of the sky that were about to hit Earth, thus putting humanity in the current timeline.
- Foreshadowing His Birth: Another rumor is that the majority of mythologies foreshadowed his birth.
- Moon as Punching Bag: Bang’s student asked if it was true that King used the moon as a punching bag and left more craters in it.
- Bloodlust: After visiting Bang’s brother, Bomb, he was referred to another dojo that specializes in traditional Qigong martial arts. Bomb sent him there to calm King’s bloodlust.
- Taking Down the Human Monster: One of the dojos he was referred to revealed that King defeated Garou, the human monster.
Enemies Fought
Victories
- Tongue Stretcher: A low-level monster that immediately surrenders and grovels before King after running into him in the middle of the city.
- Saitama: He defeated Saitama in playing video games.
- The Whole Blizzard Group: As the only single player remaining, King defeated the whole 30 members of the Blizzard Group in a video game match. He saved Saitama, Genos, Bang, and himself from joining the Fubuki.
- The Hitman Clan: Five assassins from the Hitman Clan were tasked with eliminating King. They found him in a restaurant, but their imaginations ran wild with fear at the sound of the “King Engine.” When one assassin reached for his weapon, King, mistaking it for a request for an autograph, casually refused. Convinced King could predict their every move, they fled, only to be defeated by Saitama outside the restaurant.
- Shapeshifting Monster: This monster wasn’t able to maintain his appearance and got impaled by his own bones after he wrongly interpreted King’s statement right before he attacked the strongest human being.
- An Invisible Monster: King thinks Waganma is a monster in disguise, but a real one is actually following behind him. The monster ran off after revealing himself, thinking King spotted him in the first place.
- Atomic Samurai: S-Class Hero Atomic Samurai wanted to test King’s strength so he challenged him to a fight. King refused, so Kamikaze asked him to cut an apple with his sword. King agreed but after two minutes, he put down the sword and left without a word and without doing anything. Atomic Samurai interpreted this as King’s monstrous ability; that he’s able to swiftly cut the apple at a molecular level, with the apple not realizing it’s been cut, and the sword not realizing it’s been unsheathed.

Draw (Not Decided)
In all of these fights, King would have unanimously lost. But since their fight “never happened,” I’m gonna put it under “Not Decided or Draw.”
- G4: The robot G4 confronted King, but he made an excuse to use the toilet. He eventually ran back home and left Genos to face the Demon-Level machine.
- Homeless Emperor: Homeless Emperor tried to attack King but vacillated after King made a comment about his footing. Zombieman suddenly sprang up from underground and subdued Homeless Emperor.
- Black Sperm: Black Sperm merged its remaining cells to become Platinum Sperm. Just as he was about to attack King, who also fired his Ultimate Purgatory Hellfire Burst Wave Motion Cannon, Garou attacked the Cadres in a split second.
Ranks
King is currently an S-Class Rank 5 hero of the Hero Association.
Fate
Realizing his weaknesses and the powerful enemies he might face, King decided to train at Bang’s dojo.
He admitted his lack of strength and confessed that the rumors about him were grossly exaggerated.
However, Bang misunderstood King’s intentions and referred him to Bomb, thinking he might be a better fit for the kind of training King sought.
Bomb, too, felt he had nothing to teach King and sent him to another dojo.
Unfortunately, every dojo King approached turned him away, fearing retaliation from the so-called “Strongest Man on Earth.”
Frustrated and disheartened, King returned home and played video games with Saitama, venting about his failed attempts at training.
He expressed his growing fear that one day, he’d be skewered by a monster, and the truth about his lack of power would be exposed.
In response, Saitama casually advised him to “just lift.” Shortly after, Flashy Flash arrived and recruited King and Saitama to help catch Manako.
To everyone’s surprise, they accomplished the task effortlessly in just three panels.
