J.C STAFF Reveals New Amai Mask & Puri-Puri’s Design

J.C STAFF, the studio who bagged the Season 3 animation for the hit series One Punch Man released its new visuals for the S-Class Heroes Handsome Kamen and Puri-Puri Prisoner.

While the release of Season 3 is highly anticipated, there isn’t an official date announced and fans are wondering if this could carry over to next year.

But the updates on these official character designs  make the fanbase speculate that it could air by fall of 2025.

Amai Mask’s New Look

Amai Mask, also known as Handsome Kamen Amai Mask, is the Rank 1 Class A Hero of the Hero Association (H.A.) and a renowned pop idol.

As the public face of the H.A., he upholds its reputation, ensuring both its dignity and widespread popularity.

New Design Elements

In his new blueprint for Season 3, he looks leaner, with shorter hair, and a younger look.

Even his hairstyle is much shorter compared to his Seasons 1 and 2 appearance where he looks more mature.

He still wears his signature gray sweatshirt.

Puri-Puri Prisoner’s Transformation

Puri-Puri Prisoner is an S-Class Rank 17 Hero who is at the bottom of the S-tier roster. He is a muscular figure who wears a prison suit and dangles a ball and chain on his leg.

Key Differences From the Previous Design

Puri-Puri Prisoner’s new design remains largely unchanged from previous seasons, so fans are unlikely to have strong reactions.

His signature angular jaw and distinct, stubbled chin remain consistent with Seasons 1 and 2. His thick, curly, afro-like hairstyle also stays the same.

Even his heart-drawn shirt from his “lover” layered over his prison uniform remains untouched, preserving his iconic look.

Fan Reactions and Online Discussions

Fans haven’t shown much excitement over Puri-Puri Prisoner and Amai Mask’s updated designs, likely because the changes are minimal.

On social media, particularly Twitter (now X), most discussions focus on Amai Mask’s slightly shorter hairstyle—one of the few noticeable differences.

Only Darkshine’s new redesign managed to garner mixed reactions from fans due to its glaring differences between Seasons 1 and 2 and the current Season 3 design.

Overall, the community is more focused on the upcoming season’s release, hoping it meets or surpasses the quality of previous seasons.

With these reveals, Amai Mask and Puri-Puri Prisoner become the 15th One Punch Man characters to have their official hero visuals showcased on the series website.

What This Means for One Punch Man Season 3

The reveal of Amai Mask and Puri-Puri Prisoner’s updated designs signals progress in the production of One Punch Man Season 3.

This has led fans to speculate that the anime could premiere in late 2025, possibly in the fall season.

Beyond the character sketches, many are eager to see how J.C. STAFF will handle the animation quality.

The studio received mixed reactions for its work on Season 2, with some fans criticizing the fight sequences and overall fluidity compared to Madhouse’s acclaimed animation in Season 1.

With Season 3 expected to adapt the intense Monster Association Arc, animation quality will be an important factor in its reception.
