OPM Chapter 16 – I Passed
Saitama and Genos take part in the Hero Association’s entrance exam.
While Genos excels with a perfect score of 100, Saitama is left disappointed with only 71 points, landing him in C-Class or the lowest class.
They were soon called for a seminar with Snek and discussed their responsibilities as a hero.
After the seminar, Saitama and Genos walked home, reminding the former that he is now his student.
The next day, Snek and another character talked about the two passers. The other character applauded Genos’ perfect result, which was not seen in 2 years.
As for Saitama, he thinks that a God lives in him after passing all previous records in the physical exam, even if he failed much of the mental exam.
He also pointed out that Saitama may surpass Snek one day who is at A-Class, Rank 38. After hearing this, he went out and attacked Saitama and was beaten immediately.

OPM Chapter 17 – Sparring
Genos and Saitama engage in a sparring match. Genos is eager to test his abilities against Saitama, so he starts by activating his rocket boosters and assumes a fighting stance.
He launches an energy blast from his left arm, aiming directly at Saitama, who remains calm and unmoved.
As the blast approaches, Saitama effortlessly dodges it by tilting his body.
Genos, undeterred, tackles Saitama at ultra-speed, delivering a powerful punch while the blast continues traveling beside him, even overtaking it as he presses on with his assault.
The force of their battle causes the ground to crack and rocks to explode, but Saitama remains unfazed, taking the hits without any visible damage.
After a series of powerful punches, Genos realizes he’s been punching rocks instead of Saitama, who has been dodging his attacks effortlessly.
He catches up and unleashes a huge energy blast, confident it will land.
Believing he’s finally struck his master, Genos is shocked when Saitama flicks him in the face from behind.
Genos retaliates with a kick, but Saitama dodges with after-images and moves behind him again.
Genos, now more focused, launches a massive energy blast from his hands, but Saitama simply flicks him in the forehead, stunning him.
Saitama prepares a massive punch but stops just short of Genos’ face, giving him a playful flick instead.
With a playful smile, he ends the fight by inviting Genos to grab udon.
As the dust settles from the power of Saitama’s punch, Genos is left processing the enormous difference in their strength.
OPM Chapter 18 – Pounding the Pavement
Saitama relaxes in his apartment, sweating in the summer heat while reading a manga.
Suddenly, Genos arrives with a huge backpack and asks to move in. Saitama initially refuses, but changes his mind when Genos offers a substantial cash payment as rent.
After settling in, Genos begins documenting Saitama’s daily “training,” which turns out to be his routine life.
Saitama grows stressed, realizing he has no real training advice beyond basic muscle workouts.
Genos then informs him that Class C heroes must show weekly activity to avoid being delisted by the Hero Association.
Panicked, Saitama rushes out, searching frantically for any monster to fight. After scouring the city and returning home exhausted, he continues his search the next day.

This time, he’s confronted by “Speed-O’-Sound Sonic”, who appears with a kunai aimed at Saitama’s face.
Saitama deflects it, calling him “Joints-O’-Pain Panic” by mistake, though he recalls Sonic’s true name shortly after.
Meanwhile, a murder of crows feasts on the remnants of the slain Beast King, hinting at an impending monster transformation.
Saitama remains on edge, determined to prove his hero status before his Class C time runs out.
OPM Chapter 19 – No Time For This
Saitama runs into Speed-O’-Sound Sonic in the middle of a busy street.
Sonic challenges him, determined to defeat him. But Saitama brushes it off, saying he’s too busy looking for actual bad guys.
Frustrated, Sonic draws his sword and attacks with a quick slash.
Saitama calmly bites the blade, breaking it and leaving Sonic in shock. Saitama warns him to stop disturbing him, even hinting at a punch, which terrifies Sonic.
And this scene is the origin of the toothpaste meme shown in the image below:

Just then, Tank Top Tiger, a Class A hero, arrives and accuses Saitama of looking suspicious.
Tank Top tries to assert his rank, mocking Saitama’s lower Class C status. But Sonic interrupts, launching an attack called “Exploding Shuriken” that knocks Tank Top Tiger out instantly.
Now, Sonic’s attention shifts back to Saitama.
He uses Exploding Shuriken that explodes on impact and launches “Hail of Carnage,” causing chaos as they hit nearby buildings and vehicles.
When an exploding car heads toward a crying child, Saitama steps in, bending a pole to stop the car and save the child.
Finally, as Sonic grins wickedly mid-attack, Saitama moves behind him and finishes him with a single hand-chop, knocking Sonic face-first into the ground and ending the chaotic encounter.
OPM Chapter 20 – Golden Ball
In One Punch Man Chapter 20, heroes Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio enter the desolate City Z to investigate monster activity.
Golden Ball, Class A Rank 29, prepares his slingshot, and Spring Mustachio, Class A Rank 33, readies his fencing sword as they face Kombu Infinity, a powerful monster with seaweed-like hair.
Golden Ball launches a marble that transforms into a missile, but Kombu Infinity effortlessly deflects it with his hair.
Kombu then overpowers Golden Ball, smashing him into a building.
Spring Mustachio counters with his fencing attack, “Tomboy,” but the monster dodges, and Mustachio is soon bruised and defeated.
Kombu Infinity, intending to reach the inhabited area, encounters Saitama casually walking by with groceries.
Recognizing this as another “normal” person, Kombu underestimates Saitama and ends up defeated off-page.
Back at the Hero Association, heroes find only a piece of kombu left, confused by the monster’s sudden disappearance.
Meanwhile, Saitama uses the kombu in his cooking!
As he eats, Genos comments that kombu is rumored to boost hair growth, though Saitama only responds with a blank stare and suddenly gets angry at his trivia.
Kombu Infinity is alive but is crying and naked after Saitama plucked every hair out of his body.
OPM Chapter 20.5 – Summer
Chapter 20.5 is a Bonus Manga featuring Saitama caught in a monster attack before he became a hero.
A massive monster, the 170,000-Year-Old Cicada Nymph, attacks City Z, forcing citizens to seek safety in Shelter 7.
Inside, heroes Darkness Blade (B-Class, Rank 61), Red Muffler, and The Grad School Grad attempt to fight the monster but fail, retreating to the Shelter in defeat.
Citizens mock the heroes’ weakness, while a young Saitama, who still has hair, is restless, eager to fight the monster.
Unable to tolerate being trapped, Saitama decides to leave but is blocked by the crowd and the Shelter staff, who emphasize the shelter’s durability.
Frustrated and holding in his need to pee, Saitama punches a hole in the concrete wall, shocking everyone as he exits.
Outside, Saitama sprints to a convenience store but is interrupted by the massive Cicada Nymph, which tries to attack him.

Saitama lands a single punch without missing a beat, instantly obliterating the monster as he frantically sprints to find the nearest toilet.
And now, while standing atop a building, his cape blowing in the wind, Saitama is unfazed as another monster, the 170,000-Year-Old Cicada Imago, appears in the distance, ready to be his next opponent.
OPM Chapter 20.6 – A New Wind Blows
Fubuki and her Blizzard Bunch track down a target, Banero, on the city streets.
They capture him but are interrupted by a monster named Demon Fan, a “Threat Level Demon.”
Fubuki bravely faces the monster, but Demon Fan’s powerful winds knock her and her team unconscious.
Meanwhile, a young man aspiring to be a hero, who had been with Fubuki’s team, stands alone against Demon Fan.

At that moment, Terrible Tornado, “S-Class Rank 2”, arrives. She destroys the monster and scolds the young man for his weakness. She then flies off with Fubuki.
The young man is frustrated by his powerlessness. Just then, Saitama appears, but Demon Fan reconstructs itself, ready to attack again.
Seeing the fight between Demonic Fan and the Fubuki Group, the young man urges Saitama to run.
However, Saitama gets annoyed by the monster’s noise and punches it to bits in one strike.
The monster explodes, and Saitama casually leaves, mentioning a sale he’s late for.
Inspired by Saitama’s strength, the young man quits the Blizzard Group and resumes his training with renewed determination.
He now realizes that hard work and persistence are the path to becoming a true hero, just like Saitama.
