Elder Centipede is a Dragon-level threat in One Punch Man and a colossal centipede monster affiliated with the Monster Association.

Towering over skyscrapers, this giant centipede possesses immense physical strength, durability, and regenerative abilities, making him nearly impervious to conventional attacks.

His armored exoskeleton can withstand powerful strikes from S-Class heroes like Genos, Bang, and his brother Bomb.

He’s a “wanted” monster who leveled a city, escaped from Blast two years ago, and revealed himself for revenge.

Elder Centipede was defeated by Saitama in a single punch.

Appearance

  • Giant Centipede: Elder Centipede is a colossal, centipede-like monster with a body that extends to about 10,000 feet or three kilometers in length, dwarfing skyscrapers and landscapes alike.
  • Molting Face: He has sharp teeth and an old man’s face on his forehead. His face can molt after receiving damage, as evidenced when Bang and Bomb fought him. During that fight, his face molted the fourth time.
  • Segmented Body: Like a centipede, his body is segmented, covered in a dark purple, metallic exoskeleton that appears almost impenetrable.
  • Hundreds of Legs: He has hundreds of sharp legs running along the length of his body, which cause destruction whenever he moves.
  • Menacing: Elder Centipede’s overall appearance is menacing, violent, and intimidating with his yellow glowing, fierce eyes that exude malevolence.

Personality

  • Obedient: Despite his Dragon-level capability, Elder Centipede obeys the commands of the Monster Association as soon as their mission is completed. This was evident when he retreated with Phoenix Man after they successfully kidnapped Waganma and when he showed up to wreak havoc as soon as Phoenix Man needed him.
  • Vengeful: After his defeat against Blast two years ago, he waited a perfect time to exact his revenge on the S-Class Hero.
  • Arrogant: Elder Centipede grins at the Genos’ attack, knowing he damage hurt him.
  • Resilient: Despite his defeat against Blast and receiving attacks from the S-Class heroes head-on, he quickly recovers and continues his onslaught.
  • Focused: Elder Centipede focuses his attacks on the enemy at hand. He doesn’t do any side-battles but only to the current fighter that’s engaging him.
  • Straightforward: Elder Centipede is very straightforward and doesn’t use any elaborate strategy. He dashes and crashes at any opponent head-on, defeating them with brute force.

Abilities, Power, and Skills

  • Immense Size and Strength: Elder Centipede is a colossal monster. He is extremely long and his size allows him to effortlessly destroy city blocks and landscapes simply by moving. He can also swat away heroes like Metal Bat with ease.
  • Mass Devastation: As a result of his immense size, he can easily destroy cities and even forests.
  • Durable Exoskeleton: Elder Centipede possesses an incredibly resilient exoskeleton that can withstand a barrage of attacks. This natural armor proves resistant to Metal Bat’s powerful swings, which were strong enough to damage Senior Centipede. It even withstands a direct hit from Metal Knight’s missiles, Bang and Bomb’s combo, and Genos’ energy attacks.
  • Molting: Elder Centipede’s most remarkable ability is his capacity for molting and regeneration. When his outer layer sustains significant damage, he sheds his exoskeleton, revealing a new, larger, and even more formidable layer underneath. This process makes him exceptionally difficult to kill.
  • Tremendous Speed: Despite his size, Elder Centipede has an incredible size. He combines his massive size, durability, and immense speed to thrash his enemies.
  • Regeneration: His body exhibits rapid regeneration, as demonstrated when a tooth broken by Genos quickly heals.
  • Burrowing: Elder Centipede can burrow underground at high speeds, using this ability to escape or launch surprise attacks. Despite his massive size and length, he can easily hide underground and escape like what he demonstrated when fighting a losing battle against Blast.
  • Pincer Strike: He can swat an enemy with his pincer and send him crashing to buildings. This was shown when he attacked Metal Bat.
  • Corrosive Digestive Fluids: When Genos manages to break his teeth and enter into Elder Centipede’s body, his cyborg parts starts melting. This suggests his digestive fluids are extremely corrosive, even to metals.

Attacks Used

Giant Centipede Tidal Waves: This attack involves Elder Centipede contorting his massive long body in a wave-like motion, causing widespread destruction to the surrounding area.

His undulation is powerful enough to send Metal Bat flying through the air.

Equipment and Weapons

Elder Centipede doesn’t use any external equipment or weapons. His primary tools are his natural abilities: his immense size, strength, durable exoskeleton, and molting ability.

Enemies Fought

Victories

  • Metal Bat: Elder Centipede initially clashed with Metal Bat, easily repelling the hero’s attacks and sending him flying. However, the fight was interrupted by Garou’s arrival.
  • Metal Knight: Metal Knight launched a missile attack on Elder Centipede, but the missiles proved ineffective against the monster’s tough exoskeleton.
  • Bang and Bomb: These three heroes teamed up to fight Elder Centipede. Bang and Bomb’s combined martial arts skills damaged Elder Centipede’s outer layer, but the monster simply molted, becoming even larger and stronger.
  • Genos: Genos launched a series of attacks, culminating in a powerful blast from inside Elder Centipede’s mouth. While this attack caused significant damage, Elder Centipede’s regeneration allowed him to recover quickly.

Defeats

  • Blast: Elder Centipede escapes underground after Blast defeats him in a one-versus-one fight. He waited two years before showing up to exact his revenge.
  • King: Although they didn’t fight one on one, the Dragon-Level monster was ultimately defeated without any chance of escape due to King’s help.
  • Saitama: Ultimately, Elder Centipede was defeated by Saitama with a single, devastating punch. This attack, called “Serious Series: Serious Punch,” completely obliterated Elder Centipede from his head to his tail, leaving no chance for regeneration.

Disaster Level

Elder Centipede is classified as a “Disaster-Level Dragon: Giant Insect Monster.” This is evident in his size and strength.

Due to his extremely long body of about 10,000 feet, he poses a threat to multiple cities and requires the combined efforts of multiple S-Class heroes to defeat.

Fate

After being lured by King, Elder Centipede is ultimately defeated by Saitama with a single punch called “Serious Series: Serious Punch”.

The attack completely annihilates his body, leaving no chance for regeneration.
